Personal Advice
Vitamin A works best with B-complex vitamins, vitamin D, vitamin E, Calcium, Phosphorus, and Zinc. (Zinc is needed by the liver to extract vitamin A from its stored stores.) Vitamin A also protects vitamin C from oxidation. If you are taking any medication to lower cholesterol, your absorption of vitamin A will be reduced and you probably need a supplement. To prevent the accumulation of vitamin A in the body, take supplements only 5 days a week – and then stop for 2 days. If your weekly diet contains copious amounts of liver, carrots, spinach, sweet potatoes, or melons, it is unlikely that you need a vitamin A supplement.
